Thankful

This morning we all met back at the hospital for our final weighout, Christi and I are excited to find out the results on wednesday, but nomatter what those results are we are all winners for doing this, and to my beautiful wife she is the greatest of all, I am so very proud of her and all she does.
My wife is my hero and I love her very very much. At times she would be stretched so thin between working full time, full time college student, and working out with me for this heart challenge and spending time with our daughter she is just an amazing person and I couldnt have done any of this without her! Thank you babe for all you do and all you are!

Congrats to all of you guys who braved the rain and cold and did the 5k this past weekend, I wish we could have made it.
I also want to thank Traci and all the trainers, especially Riley for puting up with me on my bad days and pushing me to do more.

Thanks to all of you challengers and your hard work these 100 days, Cant wait for wednesday

Coming to an end

Its hard to believe that its almost been 100 days since we all met that cold febuary morning not knowing what was in store for us. I personaly have learned alot about how excersize helps the body function and how to eat better. I really hope I can continue with these new ways and knowledge I have aquired.
I worked out last night with Riley and I am feeling it this morning, those pull ups really work my back and stomach muscles like no other, but its a good thing.
We will be at the race for red on saturday and hopefully we wont be the last to cross the finish line..lol

Slacking on my posting..

Its been a while since i have blogged, so i better get something on here.
This has been an incredible journey and I have learned so much from this class and this experience.
I am a little sad to see it end and i do i hope I get to see all of you around in the future.
I am continuing to work hard at my working out and I am still dropping pounds, not as fast as Id like mind you but they are dropping, It will be interesting to see how my BP and glucose looks
after this challenge compared to when i started.
Riley is still pushing me at my workouts which is a good thing, these trainers are so nice to volunteer thier time for us.. thank you!
Looking forward to the Vorlages BBQ !! Yummm

Time is flying

Its been a little while since i posted, trying to get in 5-6 days of workouts has been tough latley with all thats goping on but i try,
Our workout on thursday i think i sweated more than i ever have and Riley gave us a really tough workout trying new things, i am down another 2 lbs ( wish it was more but i will take what i can get )
I am glad i have had this opportunity for this challenge.

ready for the weekend

We had a great workout lastnight at the wellness center and i tried to push myself as hard as i could, I think i did a good job. I am really grateful for Riley traning us, and mixing things up on us . I have also tried really hard to watch what i eat and say " no thank you " when i get offerd goodies but ever once in awhile i cant but i try. I have gotten many compliments on how much better i am looking and that is great! even though i dont see it .... Last week i dropped 4 more pounds and i hope it continues.

Team pink and the Bawdens were also at the gym last night, and they are doing great with their workouts too.

Thanks to my wife for letting me be her partner and showing me i can do this!

Our workout lastnight was the most extreme to-date, we did circuit traning and let me tell you it quickly takes the steam out of you, but it keeps your heart rate up and your definitley burning alot of calories.
I just wanted to say how proud i am of my wife and how great she is doing, she just keeps on going like the energizer bunny! Keep it up babe your doing awsome and looking so good!
hopefully the weather will be better today to take my daughter to the park and walk/jog around the track .

Good weekend

We had a good weekend of working in the yard and geeting ready for the gardening season, our diets however got just a little off track but we are re commited to watch what we are eating , in fact Thank you Eric for the great idea of the WW reciepe book. We went to Barns and Noble and bought one for ourselves and love all the great food ideas.
I am hitting the treadmill after work tonight and get my workout for today

weekend where are you?

we had a great hrad workout lastnight with riley, we were both exhausted aftewards but
I feel great this morning, I know i am getting stronger because I am doing 3 reps on all my weight training now. I am ready for some good weather this weekend to get out into the yard and out into the mountains!

Week 5 is here..

Hey everyone, its another new week and another great chance to better myself.
Since we got our own treadmill Christi and i have been able to work out 6 days last week like we should be and its been very rewarding.
I have lost some more weight and my wife keeps telling me how good i am looking ( even though i dont see it yet, but who does when its yourself right? ) I honsestly thought i would hate this program but i am suprised to realize that i dont and i love the way it has made me feel, Like Traci said that first day " she is addicted to the way excersize makes her feel" , I feel the same way.
I have noticed my wife and how the pounds are falling off of her and how excersizing makes her happier and less stressed and i really like that.
We meet with our awsome trainer Riley tonight and i am looking forward to it.
Its hard to believe its already been 4 weeks hasn't it?

Week 5 off to a good start!

We picked up a treadmill over the weekend and I got a great workout on it last night with a 2.0 incline @ 3.3 speed for 40 full min. Back to see Riley tonight for some hard training but i am begining to like it. What i really like is how i feel afterwards and the energy levels i have gained.
As for the food...... its been a little tough but i think it will get better, yesterday i was way under my calories i am allowed so i was excited about that.


I dont know how Christi does it sometimes she really has a mountain of things going on with school and work and church and finding time to spend with her family, but she does and really admire her for all she does for us , her family.
I think your doing awsome babe and I am having a great time doing this with you!!

I like reading all of your blogs and knowing your all going through the same triumphs and setbacks we are, and i appreciate all the nice comments i get thank you. You all are doing really great keep it up!!
We are getting excited for the weather to warm up so we can get out and do some hiking in the outdoors and put our new found energy to good use.

Good morning everyone

I really enjoy my workouts with our trainer Riley, He is a great guy to work with and he always keeps tabs on us so that we are working hard yet not overworking us. He is full of great information too, if we have a question he never hesitates in trying to answer it for us. We had a great workout on tuesday and I notice that i have alot more energy than i have had before and like Brenda i too have a spring in my step now.
Tonight we are back at the gym and i can honestly say i am excited to go, i need to work on doing better at working out at home too but its tought finding time when i work so late and my wife is at school 2 nights a week . I guess i may have to get up early and do it.

Team ICY-HOT


I forgot to mention that on thursday working out with our trainer Riley, someone had mentioned team pink was coming that night to work out and we got talking and Riley and I came up with a funny/unique name for Christi and I
Team ICY-HOT ! Because our last name is Winters and I am icy and she is hot..? maybe but

mainly because after my workout on tuesday of last week I overworked my triceps and was hurtin alot! and was using ice packs on my sore muscles and using the hot tub for some relief.......lol

Great weekend!

I guess its about time i updated my blog,... On friday we had our nutriton class and both of us thought is wasvery informative and the booklets we got we just love because it better explains portion sizes and whats a good fat and a bad fat.

Saturday was christi and I's 1 year wedding anniversary and we decided to go south to Zion's nation park, What a beautiful place!!!! I have seen it on tv hundreds of times but until you are there, the tv does it no justice. On saturday we went on some hikes in the canyon and i was blown away with the towering red rock, I think we hiked a good 4 or 5 miles through waterfalls and wild turkeys. I would love to go back.
We probably ate a little more than we should have this weekend, but we didnt lose all control either with our celebrating. This week we want to plan some meals from the booklets we were given on friday and get back on track.

A little stiff today

We had a great workout lastnight with Riley again and we really got a workout, Riley has been so great with his instructing and guidence and best of all he is never in your face screaming at you to push harder.
I did 20 min on the bike and 20 more on the elyptical then some weigh training, but i gotta tell my arms are a bit stiff and sore today, that sok though no pain no gain right?

Team pink was there working out last night too, sweatin right along with us, good to see you guys!

Back to the trainers tonight!

We meet with Riley out trainer tonight for a good hard workout, Chrissy and i did 40 min of P90x last night , good cardio workout.
stepped on the scales this morning and to my surprise i have lost a few ... Whahooo!!
Now i just got to keep it up!

Christi and i met with our trainers on friday and i thought it was a great workout session , i really like how they mix it up and make it fun for you. I thought i would be prett sore comes saturday morning but i wasn't.
Tuesday is our next session i am am l;ooking forward to it, but in the mean time we are going
break out our P-90x videos and workout to those.
We have been really good with our eating and not cheating, keepin with lots of of fruits and veggies and whole grain/whole wheat foods and lots of water.
The Daily herald came to our workout session and took lots of photos, i got to be honest in that its not exactly how you want to look in the newspaper sweatin your guts out for all of the utah valley to see but the looked better than i thought they would in the paper yesterday.

Sorry for the delay everyone, they had to fix our login's for Christi and I

Well...... We have been doing really good with our eating trying to stay away from
any fatty foods, and eating whole grains, chicken, low fat and no sweets. We are really not sure what guidelines we should be following yet such as " low carb " or anything so hopefully we will find out more on friday.
Its been fun working out along side of my wife, she cheers me on and whether she knows it or not it is a big boost to my keeping motivated and focused. She is the best wife ever and i am so proud of her and the best thing to have ever happened to me.

We both have been using the wellness center gym for our workouts, treadmill mostly but also a little excercise bike and the elyptical machine.
To be honest i was a little shocked when i saw the scale last friday and I am more determined now then ever to bring that down, I was happy however that i have good cholesterol and i just need to bring up my LDL numbers.
I have been reading some of the other posts and i wanted to tell everyone good job and keep up the hard work!
